Marta De Menna

During my Ph.D. in molecular medicine, I have developed a keen interest in cancer biology and a solid background in molecular oncology. Currently, as a postdoc at the Urology Research Laboratory at the University of Bern, my focus is more on translational research. By using patient-derived xenograft and organoids as well as new in vitro microfluidic 3D culture systems, I am exploring the role of cancer stem cells in castration-resistant prostate cancer. The main goal of the project is the identification and characterization of pre-existing stem cell-like prostate cancer cells based on differential resistance to castration for survival, growth, and metastatic potential.
